lvm question

if one combines a partition from drive 'a' with a partition from drive 'b'
into an lvm partition, what happens if either drive goes bad? is it like
raid 0 where you lose all your data on both?

You cannot have "partitions" spanning multiple disks belong to a Volume Group.
The entire physical device must be devoted to the VG.
A VG is the uppermost abstraction of LVM.

it's really fun playing tag and all to get an answer that you obviously have but

Quote:
it depends on how you built the VG.
tells me nothing other than that there is implicitly a way around the issue at hand
but you're not telling me or anyone else what it is. please elaborate. and

Quote:
No md RAID?
i have no idea what this means. please explain.

thanks,
BabaG
