lost shut down option

It seems that I have no option to shut down my system while in KDE, but just the option to logout from current session. The shut down option is still on the splash screen, but if I'm using VNC and want to shut down then it is a problem. Any ideas what I have done wrong ? Thanks

you must use the login manager kdm so that you will have an option to shutdown when you logout

In a terminal as root you could always type

Code:

shutdown -r now
