A script that runs during login is either the .bash_login or .profile script. There is a /etc/profile script that is global. A person can also edit the $HOME/.profile script for local configuration changes such as adding aliases or adding a path to the PATH variable.

Mandrake Control Centre->Boot, see http://doc.mandrivalinux.com/Mandriv...autologin.html

Quote:
inux:/etc/profile.d # ls /etc/profile*
/etc/profile
This has nothing to do with the profile scripts.

The config file for autologin is /etc/sysconfig/autologin, those scripts you mentioned earlier have nothing to do with it. I'm not sure of the format of it though so if I were you I'd enable autologin through the GUI, see what it puts in /etc/sysconfig/autologin. You can then disable it again in the GUI and then edit the /etc/sysconfig/autologin file manually.

Autologin is a function of the X display manager so it only really applies to X windows sessions. I don't think there's a way to set autologin for console sessions.
