login problems with mandrake 10 on vmware


i just installet mandrake 10 on a vmware 4.52 but when i login a get this messege:
83 login: jesper
password:
last login: mon nov 8 10:59:49 on ttyl
[jesper@83 jesper]$



and northing else happends.

this is my first ever linux, so bare with me.

to hopefully fire uo your Xserver and get a WM or you can type

sorry didnt work, the only thing i get is a totally screw up gui, and i cant tell what the text is saying. something with "fatal iu error,,,,, and reminder"

btw its the 5 time i have install mandrake on vmware and i get the same error everytime.

I think there is something in one of the VMWare menus that's called 'VMWare tools'. You need to install that to make sure VMWare can use your video card smoothly and to improve overall performance.

By the way, (I don't think it'll do any good if startx even fails), but also try the commands 'kdm' or 'icewm'.

To configure your videocard and other stuff in Mandrake itself, enter 'drakxconf' as root.

none of those idea worked, i cant figure out if its mandrake or its vmware that is screwing up.

i cant install vmware tools, cause mandrake needs to be fully booted before u can install it.

anybody has any other idears.
