Question Logging in as root...

Ok, If u have no tolerance for noobs ( ), stop reading now.
I'm trying to install "Yanc", but I have to be root to install it, and I can't figure out how to login as root! I've done it on RH9 but when I moved to Mandrake 9.1 the logon screen changed, so I can't type in Root as a username. I need to use BASH to install the prog (duh) but I don't know how to login as root on the BASH shell. I ALSO tried to use the "root console" (Some Super-user mode thing who's name escapes me right now ). That console logs you in as root, yey. But I can't run the script! I used the "LS" command and it said that the file is disabled, so I can't run it! That's where I am now. Any suggestions? Thanx for helping!

Mandrake use XDM as default login screen, if you use kde try change it into KDM or if yu use Gnome change int into GDM. You can change your login screen from MCC (system or hardware modules, i think !)

If you KDM go to KDE Control Center - system - login manager and make root visible.

Hope it help ...

type "su" at the console, press enter, then your root password.
