Live CD - Mandriva Discovery Live 2006
 

Mandriva packaged a new version of "Mandriva on a Live CD" called Mandriva Discovery Live 2006 (Mandriva-Linux-Discovery-Live-2006-CD.i586.iso). I found a bittorent file in the Mandriva Club, but it appears that this is not sold separately. The new Discovery Live 2006 version appears to be available only at the Mandriva Club or packaged with Mandriva Discovery 2006 box set. Mandriva does sell a Live CD, also available at the Mandriva Club, called Mandriva Move based on Mandrake 10.0.

The two versions of Mandriva on a CD are:
1. Mandriva Move (created July 2004 and based on 10.0); and
2. Mandriva Discovery 2006 Live (created October 2005).

From my use of the Discovery Live 2006, there are a few new visual enhancements. I like the roll-over for the icons on the task bar, and the screen saver pictures are very nice. A few of the items that the Discovery Live 2006 contains, compared to Move are:
1. Firefox instead of Konqueror;
2. Koffice; and
3. Wireless tools to manage wireless access points and wireless profiles.

I think the Discovery Live CD should be available as an iso download sometime soon. Mandriva-Free 2006 has just been released as iso images.
