linux vs. linux-nonfb

Hey guys,

What is the difference between linux and linux-nonfb on startup? I have been scouring the Internets, but I can't find any description of the difference.

The framebuffer supports higher resolutions and graphics I believe.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the framebuffer is only used to display graphics during the bootup, ie. when there's no X windows running.

So the linux-nonfb boot is exactly the same just without the splash screen or the ghostly 'Mandriva ..' text in the bottom right corner of the text consoles.
