Linux Kernal Change

I'm running mandrake 10 with the 2.6 kernal. Being new to all things linux, I want to run uder the 2.4 kernal.

How would I go about changing from 2.6 to 2.4 ?

There might be some confusion between kernels. 2.6 uses module-init-tools and 2.4 uses modutils two different way of dealing with modules. I lost usage of portions of my 2.4 when I upgraded to 2.6 kernel. My suggestion is if you have 2.6 working stick with that or put it on a different hardrive so kernels do not interact. Marty any way you look at it , it will be a learning experience

I'm trying to get an rtl81080 wireless card to work, and all the drivers I can find are for 2.4. Wasnt sure if the instability of 2.6 would effect the driver in any way ?

I'm also having problems with slow internet connect under 2.6, and although I have added the required text to the config file, I was advised that 2.4 would get rid of the problem totaly.

I am running rh9 with both 2.4.20-8 and 2.6.5 . I use grub but I have lost use of rpm function in 2.4 . I must say before 2.6 , 2.4 worked solidly. I play with these computers so I really don't use them for mission critical. 2.4 was quite solid, 2.6 is quicker and in time will be better, in the meantime, much confusion abounds. 2.4 is fine. marty
