Linux Book suggestions?

Can anyone suggest a good in-depth book to help me understand what I'm doing in Linux? I'm a science grad so I can take a fair amount of detail/jargon etc and I used to meddle about with MS-DOS some time ago on a sturdy if glacial 386sx (25Mhz/16MB.. woo hoo!) Is it true that I could, using the right packages run Linux on one of those even now?

RUTE

Linux Newbie Administrator Guide

These have worked for me. You can also use the man pages within Linux for all the information you could ever want.

if you are using MDK 9.2,you can find a nice book called SAG (System Administration Guide) in the MDK 9.2 installations CDs and after installation right click>link to URL and point to /usr/share/doc/LDP/sag/index.html>ok.you can change the icon later
