Linux basics
 

I am running Mandriva Linux Free 2007 Spring and i am over the moon to have got this far! But the one thing about Linux that i am disappointed with is the lack of tutorials for a specific distro. I accept the steep learning curve that is needed to be learnt in order to become proficient and welcome it but where-on-earth can i get some down to earth tutorials teaching the current and up to date basics? Hope someone will take pity on a complete Linux n00b.

This is one of my gripes with the Mandriva Club. It is hard to find links to their great documentation to post to these types of questions.
From my Mandriva 2007, Start Menu -> More Applications -> Documentation -> Mandriva Linux Starter Guide in English is available.
Take a peek in the /user/share and /user/share/doc directories.

My own mandrivafaq may point you to some good resources. I have always found IRC the place to be if you are willing to do some searching yourself, and can find your way if someone points you in a general direction.

#mandriva @ freenode may be the place to go (I use mandriva.no @ EFNet though, and have no experience with that channel).

Hey thanks for all the links guys. Will have a lot of reading to do but i don't mind that as long as something sticks between the ears lol. I am determined to ditch Microsoft Windows and just as determined to learn enough about the Linux Operating System i am currently running 'Mandriva Spring' so that i can at least become proficient in the day to day running of my computer and the OS. Really don't think the dizzy heights of geekdom is for me lol. But once again thanks to everyone who have taken the time out and contributed.Cya!
