Lightbulb Lets Make Linux a Community!!!

Are you a Newbie?
Are you a Pro?
Dont know where you are what you are doing
Well Lets start a Helping Support Group made from users around the world

My Idea is that If need help or If you help out somebody else then use aim through Gaim to "Talk" to each other in real time.

If you need help Post you Aim saying:
Need Help- Aimuserhere

If you understand how to use Linux even if not a pro but think you can help others then say:
Give Help- Aimuserhere

I think this will help everyone out. I know that when I started out the strangers that helped me out made a huge difference in my time with linux.

My Aim is AIMEyeSeven

Please Join me

I think that if you read some of the other threads about allowing instant messaging, etc, in the Website Suggestions forum, this topic has been discussed at length, and the conclusion is that IM would diminish the effectiveness of LQ. The reason is simply that if person A asks a question and person B sends an answer that solves the problem, then a grand total of one person is helped. Meanwhile, there may be a dozen other people who have the same issue as A, who wouldn't benefit by being able to see B's answer. That approach doesn't help anyone except A. In contrast, if A posts a question here to LQ, and B posts an answer, then *everybody* who might be facing the same question as A can get the benefit of B's answer.

My suggestion would be that if you either are looking for help, or you know the answer to somebody's question here at LQ, then just post it. In either case, you will be helping somebody out, and at least from my point of view that's the best way to build a community. -- J.W.
