LE 2005 network install

I downloaded the iso and booted up. I chose ftp installation and then was asked for ISP username, password and AC name(whatever that is) , after filling username and password(i left AC blank as recommended), I was asked for hostname and domain name. The message reads like " I COULD NOT GUESS HOSTNAME AND DOMAIN NAME; PLEASE FILL IN THIS INFORMATION. VALID ANSWERS ARE FOR EXAMPLE : 'MYBOX' FOR HOSTNAME AND 'MYNETWORK.COM' FOR DOMAIN NAME FOR A CALLED 'MYBOX.MYNETWORK.COM' ON THE INTERNET'.

I have an adsl connection(PPPoE).What should i type in for hostname and domain name?
My computer is not connected to any other network.

Thanks.

I have the same problem. DNS servers will not be found in some cases. Use IP address instead servername (ftp, http, etc). You can find need IP with nslookup console command "nslookup servername" (use this command in the Console - Linux or Command prompt - Windows) to find IP address:
nslookup ftp.free.fr
Server: 212.188.4.10
Address: 212.188.4.10#53

Non-authoritative answer:
ftp.free.fr canonical name = ftp.proxad.net.
Name: ftp.proxad.net
Address: 213.228.0.141

I have "Error: Bad Host name" too. If you press alt+F3 (alt+F1for go back to graphic interface) you can see line: "no DNS, unable to guess domain" In this case you can use IP address instead server name. See my fist post for resolve this problem. Then, after you install Mandrake you may run "/usr/bin/edit-urpm-sources.pl" and change IP address to server name back.

yeah, thanks, now i am able to connect, but get
"Error: File not found".
I think this is due to the Mandrake directory
Can you please tell me what you did.

P.s.:Sorry to bug you a lot, but I really appreciate your help.

What installation type you use? FTP, HTTP, etc? And what IP address you enter in the server name and what you enter in the next line after? You must enter in the second line, after ftp server name, something like: "/mirrors/ftp.mandrake-linux.com/Mandrakelinux/devel/2005/i586" (for ftp.free.fr without"").
