Lag in mandriva

Hi,

I get mouse, keyboard, sound and general lag with mandriva. Help would be nice
my system specs are:
Amd64 3800+
6600 128mb pcie
512mb pc3200
1x 160gb sata (windows)
1x 80gb IDE (linux)

A few toughts:

-With What Mandriva version?

-Since when this has being like that?

-Did you try reinstalling (put your stuff on /home, with /home on a separete partition are format "/" upon installation)?

-If your distro is old you may want to download the latest one.

-You may also want to try recompiling your kernel (look at the wiki for that)

it is mandriva 2005 LE i586, it started when i set up network.
