Question kprinter "Driver Settings" menu lost + cannot change resolution etc.

Hi,

I recently installed Mandrake 10.0 Official on my PC. My HP Deskjet cp1160 printer was detected during installation. Everything fine so far and I was able to print using CUPS via kprinter. I also could (and still can) set printer defaults in PrinterDrake, such as resolution, print mode, etc.

But I have a problem with kprinter. At first, when I clicked "Properties" there appeared a menu "Driver Settings", where I could set resolution, paper type, print mode and Duplex printing, which is very convenient when one wants to print such diverse things as text, photos and images.

But suddenly that menu has disappeared! I can still set paper size and Duplex printing, but I have to go to PrinterDrake and change defaults (as root) every time I want to change e.g. resolution, which is very annoying.

I re-installed my printer from PrinterDrake **AND** KDE control center, but nothing changed. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or maybe someone else has encountered this problem too?

Please help...

Same problem ...

... but with Mandriva LE 2005. I have a HP PSC 1110 which works fine, but somehow the resolution info isn't passed to kprinter nor to OpenOffice.org printing tool. I highly suspect that CUPS doesn't pass the PPD files correctly to kprinter.

Actually I have that HPLIP thing running, but I doubt that it is the cause of the problem because before that I had HPOJ and the "driver settings" tab was alreadymissing. The printer was configured using KControl and is configured to use the HP program (passes over hp:something instead of directly sending the file on the USB port).

Thanks
