Exclamation kernel-source on 10.1 Community differs with kernel

Hello all,

I have kernel-2.6-2.6.8.1-20mdk, but the last kernel-source is 2.6.8.1-12mdk !
Is it correct ?

I want to compile the ATI drivers. Can I do it with a different version between kernel and kernel-source ?

Why isn't there a kernel-source-2.6.8.1-20 ?

It should work fine. For some reason on Mandrake the versions of the kernel and kernel source can vary slightly.

ok thanks for your answer.
but i have an error :

Code:
# sh make.sh
ATI module generator V 2.0
==========================
initializing...
Error:
kernel includes at /usr/src/linux/include do not match current kernel.
they are versioned as ""
instead of "2.6.8.1-20mdk".
you might need to adjust your symlinks:
- /usr/include
- /usr/src/linux
EDIT :
I installed kernel-source-2.6-2.6.8.1-20mdk from Cooker and compilation worked :

Code:
# sh make.sh

it's still puzzling as to why they just don't match the kernel versions and their sources. Saves everyone these headaches.

I think that with URPMI the package is kernel-source-2.6 or kernel-source-26 ... or something along those lines. That is the correct kernel source I believe.
