Kernel panic
Hi , I'm trying to install Mandrake 10.0 on a old pc Pentium 2 300 with 64mb ram.
But when I boot from the cd it stops with following message: Kernel Panic :kernel bug at drivers /ide / ide iops c: 1005. Can I get past this bug ?

This comes out too : Kernel panic : fatal exeption in interrupt
in interrupt handler -not syncing

Maybe there are some hardware issues that prevent it from detecting correctly the hardware, it might load an unappropiat driver for your system, and BOOM.

Thanks for the quick reply , but can I get throu that problem ? Maybe installing some older version of Mandrake or is it just hopeless?

Try to use a bootable linux distro, Knoppix and Slax are pretty nice, or even try CD 2 of Slack10. I had the same problem

Eh, Linux is compiled for i586 or better on the Mandrake Distros, UNLESS you download the 386 specific distro.
That is the problem.
