Arrow kernel 2.6.x poweroff problem

I am running kernel-2.6.3-7mdk. I have not been able to find a combination of kernel parameters to enable power off when I shutdown. In the 2.4 kernels I was able to use apm=realmode_power_off. Can't get this to work in the 2.6 kernels. has it stands the system just shuts down and then I have to hit the off button. The other response I have been able to get is it just reboots after shutting down.

Any help would be appreciated.

I use these settings (in 'make menuconfig'):
Code:
Power Management Options (ACPI, APM) --> [*] Power Management Options
APM (Advanced Power Management BIOS Support -->
[M]APM (Advanced Power Management) BIOS Support
PS: Be sure to have apm module loaded when u shutdown your pc

Do you have the acpi and the acpid packages installed? If so, in mcc [The Mandrake Control Center / Boot / Boot Loader] make sure Enable ACPI is check marked. I am using the same kernel, and these are the only things I had to do to make my system power off following shutdown.

HTH,

If your motherboard supports acpi, it works great and is newer than apm. I am running kernel 2.6.4 and use acpi exclusively. APM works fine, but I tend to use newer technology.
