Kernel 2.6 and Mandrake 9.2

I want to upgrade to 9.2 (yes, yes despite all the troubles). Are there any hiccups with the 2.6 kernel upgraders should no about. Do device drivers like winmodem drivers, pcmcia drivers, etc., work ?

Wjhat about programs, are there any incompatible programs with the 2.6 kernel?

You should set up your system using the latest stable release of the kernel that comes with MDK 9.2, then you can load up the 2.6 kernel as an alternate at boot time. Every thing should run, but 2.6 is not stable yet and there may be incompatibilities. If you think you need 2.6 so bad, then live with the problems that may come up. Your system should always be set up to allow you to boot back to a stable kernel, regardless, when you are playing on the edge with something like 2.6.

i tried 2.6 from ftp /contrib folder. hum, well after rebooting, not much worked...
however i must admit that new 2.6 command "make" makes things easier when compiling
