Do you get those messages in the console but everything still loads up correctly?

I noticed that you're using SuSE and this is the Mandriva forum. Maybe you should ask in the SuSE or Ubuntu forums.

Happens on Mandrake 10.1

This just started happening to me today.....the only difference is, I can't browse and folders at all. I can run a command like the following:
konqueror /home/me
and that will pop up a window. but if i try to go into a folder after that -- any folder, i get the following:
KDEInit could not launch '/hone/me/whatever/'

i can't think of a single thing i have changed. in the last month, let alone today.

did some experimenting, and here's what i found:

doing the command echo $DISPLAY gives me:
:0.0
which i think is right. i don't know. also, if i startx as root, it's fine. i created a new account, and it's fine. it's just the one i always used is all messed up. i did the echo display on the other ones, and it gave the same result. so what gives???

oh, i also tried doing some localhost +something or another. i can't remember, but it didn't work either.

more experimenting.....can't launch some things by double click; for example, media files. gives same error.
