Hi I can't seem to find info on this so I'm hoping you can help.
I'm running Mandrake 9.2 on a dual pentium pro
How can I get KDE to deal with window, menu and title bar scaling
To be specific: Some windows do not properly scale. They end up too large.
Also, some menus in say Firefox for example when I right click a link scroll up past where I can see them.
And most annoyingly, when I am looking at files in Konqueror in detail list view I run into an issue with the name column. To be specific, if I have a folder with files with long file names the name column automatically expands to display the whole damn name rather than staying at a specific length. Scrolling to the righ each time I open konqueror and dragging the name column to a tolerable length is annoying. I seem to see this in other apps run in the kde environment also.
thanks for your help
Oh and on a random additional note, anyone had problems getting the zoom function in kaffeine to work?
I tried the settings, save view profile "file management" with the box you mentioned checked (I guess it is by default), backed out of konqueror, went back in and the changes didn't take. Any other suggestions?
Oh and as far as virtual desktop v. screen resolution. If you mean, am I vpn'ing into another machine, no I'm just on my standalone.
By virtual desktop, I meant that the desktop size is larger than the screen size, so you need to scroll the desktop side to side and/or up and down with the mouse to see it all. Maybe the term I should of used is viewport rather than screen. A look at your /etc/X11/XF86config file should tell you. Under the resolution, are the screen sizes listed or does the line begin with the word virtual?

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't find anything like that in the XF86config but I DID find reference to that in the XF86config-4.
I don't know if this is what you were referring to but I hope it is. My desktop is set to this resolution also (800x600). I have a dinky 15' monitor. The scaling and placement issue seems to be primarily dialog/setting/options boxes. So I guess I'm saying, no I don't find myself having to "scroll the desktop" so to speak. these window edges or options just end up being out of reach. I guess as a few examples, I may pully up some sort of settings dialog for Mandrake and the buttons at the bottom of the window are out of reach or I may right-click a link in firefox and find that some of the menu options are out of reach.
