KDE 3.3 on Mandrake 10.1
I'm upgrading kde 3.2 to 3.3 on mandrake (powerpack edition)...
it seems all ok.. except:
- before showing the login box, the mandrake 10.1 background pic was show but it has black line (display problem) but after logging in the display is perfect
- after that the background was disapear, (blank background with login box)
- my mouse not work anymore..
anyone knows how to fix that?
i can live with display problem on the first login, but cant live without keyboard
thx a lot

KDE3.3.1 (shipped with Powerpack) has some problems in Mandrake, which is why they didn't ship it as the default KDE. I believe these problems are resolved with KDE3.3.4(?) which will ship with Mdk 10.2. If you don't mind messing with the Cooker, the new KDE packages *are* available there....

Cooker is the *very* unstable version of Mandrake. It is the development version. People are welcome to use the Cooker, but they are forewarned that if/when they update their systems, things could *break*, because they are always doing development work, and a given package loaded there might not be properly integrated with everything yet. (Or worse yet, be full of bugs! )
If you want to use Cooker, just go to the EasyUrpmi site in my sig, and set upyour urpmi repositories to use the "Cooker" mirrors (it should be pretty self-explanatory on the site). When you have set up all your repositories, (turn off any non-cooker repos, too) as root, type "urpmi --auto-select", and your system should be updated to the full cooker version of the release.

you problem with the mouse might lie in the display manager. when i switched to 3.3.0 it had issues with the keyboard and that same black line. I changed the display manager to MdkKDM (i had to reinstall it) and I was golden. So check that, it may have done the same thing to your mouse...(GDM was the culprit with me for whatever reason)

first check and see if it's installed already....go to "configure your computer" and then click system. then click display manager and change it to mdkkdm. if it's not there, then...........
just use rpmdrake. star-->system-->configuration-->packaging-->install software
and type in "mdkkdm" in the search and find it and click the check box and install it. then do the first step.
