K3B and xcdroast not working

In installed Mandrake 10.1. The CD Writer K3B and xcdroast shows error while writing to CD. xcdroast detects the devices, but could not read the tracks. K3B shows an error saying it requires some new version of "cdrecord". What could be the problem?

CD record is the tool that K3B uses to burn the cd's

You can actually use this from the command line yourself....

Anyway, the point is that k3B needs a more modern verision of the tool than you seem to have on your system.

As I recall on mandrake it's possible to download new versions of software through the GUI update thing. So that's what you need to do with this programme...

The actual burning in K3b is done by the command line utilities cdrecord, cdrdao, and growisofs.

So I would look at getting the latest version of those. A mandrake person will have to help u with that........
