IPM1 Failed??? Huh, help me!!

Well ive installed Mandrake 10.1 for the 5th time now and I still seem to be getting the same problem. I downloaded my version via ftp in the Mandrake DOS installation. Heres, the problem after i reboot mandrake it goes through various checks and all is "ok" but fails at

Probing IPM1 (ipm1_si) [Failed]

After all the checks what I see is next is the Linux Mandrake background (twice for that matter, image below) and it halts after that and nothing more happens. Any suggestions on whats wrong here?
