95% of mandrake problems are solved by using a distro that doesnt use rpm =]

(disclaimer: any stated opinions arent actually opinions. if you saw that and you didnt like it you didnt actually see it. and so on...)

100% newbie problems are created by idiotic posters like m00t00.

I agree, if you don't like the RPM distros then stay OUT of their forums.

If that site can solve 95% oif mandrake problems

this wizard http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ would solve 99% :)

opjose 12-12-2004 01:16 AM

Actually that site points to the same "wizard", but includes more instructions...

Same end result though.

The reason why you get some packages as having invalid signatures is because they may not have been digitally signed using the Mandrake GPG key but because they are coming from official mandrake repositories it's usually fine to install them. Another thing when using RPMDrake or urpmi try not to upgrade too many packages at the same time, do it in small proportions coz I've noticed that sometimes if you try to update a large number of packages at the same time, not all of them are downloaded and you can end up with an error like the above.

I largely ignore it for minor applications. For upgrades and things like apache or mysql, you should have a valid signature.
