Internet Settings not sticking
I create a new network connecetion (cable Internet connection on eth1) using mandrake control centre. Everything works fine until I reboot the machine and it decides to forget the connection.

Can anyone make me have the settings stick.

Sounds like you are not getting dhcp could be your router setting.

Type route to check if you have a root table setup the next time it happens if you have no route then go and

Try again and type ifconfig in a terminal
see if you have a consistant eth0 setting if you have then
try using a real ip number with a browser to check if you have no dhcp.

This should give you a clue why this is happening, usually because your dhcp is not being loaded from it's source.

I have tried that and I am geting nothing from the ifconfig on eth1 before I choose new connection from mandrake. I should also mention that it shows the card as failing when I go in verbose menu while booting.

I have had the internet working on 10.0 before I just wish I could remember how.

I dislike the Mandrake wizards - they seem to cause a lot of posts to forums...

I have written a couple of howtos to manually set up static IP addresses (not usually any need for DHCP on a small network).

You can find the howto here: simple network setup

Please let me know how you get on - I'm sure the howto is not perfect :)
