Integrating Kaffeine with Firefox
 

I'm running Mandriva 2005 LE and I'm using firefox 1.0.2 that came with the system. I want to integrate kaffeine so that I can listen to streaming media on websites such as this one that I made. I e-mailed one guy and he told me to that I needed to install the gcc packages and I did, but I don't know what else I need to do. Can somebody help me out with this please?

I don't know what gcc got to do with it, since it's a compiler (GCC=GNU Compiler Collection).
You can play streaming media with mplayer-plugin but that requires mplayer. I don't know if it's even possible to integrate kaffeine into Firefox but you can give a try to mozplugger. I never tried it personally though.

Not sure about Mandriva but in Debian there is a package called kaffeine-mozilla

This mozilla plugin launches kaffeine, the xine-based media player for KDE, when a page containing a supported media format is loaded.

If you goto easyurpmi (see my sig) and setup your sources you can easily install mplayer and mplayerplugin through the package manager.

Yes, it's definitely possible to use Kaffeine as your media player IN Firefox fox. There is a firefox-plug in. I believe it was called Mozplugger. That's a Mozilla based media plug-in, but it should work for Firefox.

Problem solved. Apparently there was just some instability problem with my version of kaffeine because at times it wouldn't let me pan through the timeline or interact with any of the buttons, but the movie would still play. All I did was uninstall kaffeine and install mplayer, which is prettier might I add, and everything works perfect, including my web content.

kaffeine gives error on playing streaming video
 

when i accsss trailers from quicktime.com kaffeine starts up. but then it displays the following error:

?? any idea wat this means. kaffeine can otherwise play .mov files. just the streaming is causing probs.
