installing newer glib on mdk10
hi, I'm still rather new to Linux.. I've been using Mandrake 10.0, and I love it, but I've had some problems with installing things..
I avoid rpm's because they seem to have more problems, and I look for tarballs when possible..
several packages have told me they require gtk+, so I got it from gtk.org.. the gtk+ package itself said it requires glib 2.4.0 or higher.. so, I installed the newest glib package, also from gtk.org, with no problems.. however, when I try once again to install gtk+, it still says I need glib..
can someone please tell me what I need to do?.. do I need to uninstall the glib packages that mandrake came with?.. do I need to edit something so the gtk+ installation can find glib?.. or do I have to specify a certain location to install glib to?..
thanks..
