all right im trying to get a mandy running on a emachine t2865. It has a athlon xp 2800+ and 512mg of ram. Im having three problems and though i would post them all together to make it easy to keep all this information together.
1st i cant seem to get my sound working. when i check mandy's adim tools it not only found the deviece but also installed the drivers. But my computer would not play or open any sort of mixer deviece to so i could check if volume was on or off. when i run alsaconf if runs just fine and tells me to use alsa mixer to setup my sound levels. but when i try to run alsa mixer i get this little error meassaage.

now sn_ctl is the driver that was installed on my system i think the problem may be there any help would be great.

2nd im trying to install some apps but i cant seem to find all the devel packages i need go to install. im not sure wht lib any of these come from so if someone could point me in the right direction it would be great.
3rd i run a dual boot with windows and use an ntfs partion to move files bk and forth between 2 OSes. the partiion wasnt yet formatted when installed linux so i had to go bk to windows format it then mount it in linux. I can read the files just fine but i can right to the drive so any help on that would also be appreciated.
