Install from hard disk?
Hi,
I've just recently broken the chains of bondage that was Microsoft and am looking forward to using linux.
I began with Red Hat, but for some reason I decided to switch to Mandrake.
Is there a way to install Mandrake 9.2 from the hard drive in a similar fashion to Red Hat? My CD writer is trashing disc's like there is no tomorrow when I'm attempting to burn the ISO's that I got from the Mandrake website. I used an ISO extractor program to copy all of the contents from the 3 disc's to a Fat32 partition just to make sure the ISO's were not corrupt (and they are not). It would be really nice if I could just keep the 3 incremental ISO's in a folder and direct the installer to install from that location. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, once I'm up and running, can I use Black-box as my window manager/desktop environment in Mandrake?
Thanks in advance. By the way, this forum is great! It's convinced me that I can switch to linux and not feel like I just sat down in front of the computer again for the first time.
