Install caching-nameserver on a Mandriva AMD64 machine
Hi,
I want to use my machine for a internet sharing but I dont succeed to install the caching-nameserver package. My machine is a AMD64, on which I have Mandriva 2006. This machine connects to the internet on one ethernet card and connects to another Mandriva machine on the other ethernet card. From the later, I can ping the ethernet card connecting to internet and that's all. I can not ping any other internet address. Here's what I have on my system: [root@localhost Téléchargement]# urpmf --name bind bind-utils:bind-utils-9.3.1-1mdk.x86_64.rpm bind:bind-9.3.1-1mdk.x86_64.rpm ypbind:ypbind-1.17.3-1mdk.x86_64.rpm bind-devel:bind-devel-9.3.1-1mdk.x86_64.rpm samba-winbind:samba-winbind-3.0.13-2mdk.x86_64.rpm [root@localhost Téléchargement]# urpmq --list-media main update_source2 [root@localhost SOURCES]# urpmf --name caching- caching-nameserver:caching-nameserver-9.2-2mdk.noarch.rpm Whenever I try to install the caching-nameserver packade, I have output message: [root@localhost Téléchargement]# rpm -ivh --force caching-nameserver-9.2-2mdk.noarch.rpm erreur: Dépendances requises: bind >= 9.2.3-0.rc2.1mdk est nécessaire pour caching-nameserver-9.2-2mdk.noarch bind >= 9.2.3-0.rc2.1mdk is necessary Do you have any ideas of what I should do to be able to install the caching-nameserver please? Thanks for your help, Best regards, Dinh Tran |
ok...you have an unresolved dependancy....
not sure whats missing but can you use the package manager to install with...it will tell you what is missing and try to install it for you... |

ifconfig route -n /etc/resolv.conf (probably ok) maybe dnat option in shorewall, and general shorewall setup also you will need to check ipv4_icmp_echo (this is not the exact name) setting Not sure of the specifics for what you want to do |
I actually tried to install with both shell command and software management wizard but I still have dependency error. Finally I found out that my AMD64 machine was installed with the wrong version of Mandriva which is for 32 bits processor.
After installing the right Mandriva, I still have to force installing caching-nameserver but the rest works correctly. Thanks a lot for all your help :) |
