I think I broke it...madwifi

I have a Toshiba a45 notebook...I forgot the other 2 numbers there.

It has a 60 gig, Atheros AR5001X wifi card of which I have been trying to use the Madwifi drivers for (in Mandrake 10.0).

I followed the insturctions i have found here (downloading the tarball and doing the whole make, and make install (as root)).

What happens after I compile the drivers and reboot is the system hands when trying to bring up the ath0 device, and eventually it times out. (I think i forgot to set the time, so it takes forever). It continues to boot the cycle and when it attempts to load KDE it crashes when it tries to intilize the devices...grr

I am going to reinstall, and attempt to recompile the drivers..

I like linux...but there are few things I ask from my OS: Get on the net, listen to music, and work.

Linux is really better for everything, cept I can't seem to get ANY of my network devices to work...although I think my LAN card works, but unfortunately I exist on dial-up and home, and wifi at school.

So, it is imperative to get these working.

I tried Ndiswrapper, and when I trtied to modprobe the ath0, it crashed and ate itself.

I am sick of Linux eating itself...if only I could get my wifi card to work

*crosses fingers*

if anyone can think of anything that can help.

oh, and I DO have the kernel source installed (I know i'm gonna get some answers referring to that).
