I need help please installing these things
 

I recently tried to install Flash and Limewire on my Linux Laptop. I'm using Mandrake 10.1 and currently am getting into some trouble. When I try to install Flash, it just doesn't work at all!
I keep trying to, but keep failing. It doesn't give me an error messege or anything. I tried to install it by double clicking it (after un-archiving it), typing it in the command line, AND by typing it in Konsole. Nothing.
I need it to review my CCNA 3 notes before I fail the class. The stupid people at the library use the computers to play poker and waste my time. Anyways, I also tried to install Limewire, but it just keeps this error messege-

"Some package requested cannot be installed:
LimeWire-free-4.9.30-0.i386 (due to unsatisfied j2re[>= 1.4.1])
do you agree ? "

I have no choice but to say "Okay". If anybody has any idea or an easier way to install it, PLEASE tell me. I'm new to Linux and apparently got myself into something I can't handle!

The problem with Limewire is that you do not have Java installed. RPM dependency errors are annoying but are also very important in making sure your OS functions.

I'm not sure if Java is a Mandriva Club package or not - you may want to make sure your RPM sources are upto date and/or add a jpackage source from Easy Urpmi (you'll need to search the forums for the link).

As for flash, you need to install it as a plugin. Depending on which browser you are using it is different, but I would recommend using firefox and following these instructions here: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/linux.html#Flash

Unfortunately the Mandrake Java is MandrakeClub/Powerpack only and JPackage doesn't include the actual Java package (I think Jpackage is only for open source stuff, whereas Sun's java is closed source).

Anyway to get Java just get the RPM from Sun (http://jdl.sun.com/webapps/download/...BundleId=10148) and follow the instructions (http://java.com/en/download/help/5000010500.xml#rpm), (if those links are broken just go directly to java.com)

Ah the benefits of Mandriva Club - if you don't notice a package missing you tend not to ask where it came from. :)

I must admit though that it would be great one day if there was one great repository or extremely simple way to locate RPMs - it's got better, much better with tools such as urpmi and the Easy Uprmi website, but it's still not perfect.

Thanks. I got Flash to work, but not Limewire yet. I'm working on that right now.
