i know what i have done ! how do i undo it ?

hi. I am very new to linux, i have had lots of problems with slackware but mandrake is great - i've been able to connect linux to the internet through windows for the first time ever :)

anyway to my problem- i am running mandrake 9.2 rc2
my monitor is an LG studioworks 700s
my graphics card is a matrox millenium g400 max

i was trying to get the maximum resolution out of my system and when i rebooted my monitor gives me an error message saying frequency out of range. i know i need you change my display settings but how do i do this if my monitor shuts down to avoid damage?

i can boot to the failsafe prompt with no problems but i'm not sure if there is anything there that can help me.

i don't have any rescue disks.

i'd appreciate any help you can give me.

thanks
mark

Reboot and as soon as you see the lilo boot menu hit the Esc key. That will take you to a boot prompt where you type "linux 3" w/o quotes. You will then boot to a text mode login which can't hurt your monitor. Login and su to root and run:

# XFdrake

This will bring up the graphics configuration program similar to what you saw during the install but in framebuffer mode and no mouse support. Navigate with the keyboard and reset your resolution and monitor settings.
