i have noticed something
Hello,
I haven't posted forever due to stupid boot sector virus, just now getting my linux station up and running. I have somewhat of a stupid question though. I have mandrake 10.1 offical... Is this the same as Mandriva 10.1 offical. I know Mandriva is now Mandrake. Are they two names for the same thing or would I be smarter to get Manrivea 10.1 official?
Thanks,
Dustin

Actually, Mandrake is now Mandriva.
10.1 is 10.1. Only the company name has changed due to the merger with Conectiva Linux. In a similar vein, Mandrake 10.2 is Mandriva LE 2005 - the name Mandrake 10.2 was changed at the last minute to Mandriva LE 2005 but you can still find many references to 10.2 that were overlooked.

Boot into failsafe mode and enter runlevel 3. Log in at the command prompt and type
KDE
Does KDE start from there? If yes, it may be the problem documented here:

Intresting,
Thanks for the help but I got really frustrated last night and decided to install Fedora. I have several linux distros laying around, believe it or not I am not that new to Linux and can do several things in it, that is why I was confused. Another guy suggested that it was a bad install. I read the site you linked though. That would seem it would work but I don't have it anymore, I get frustrated easily really late at night.
Ta ta,
Dustin
