I broke Konqueror

I was fiddling around with the settings in Konqueror and under the menus "View / View Mode" I changed from "Tree View" to "Text View". Now whenever I click on a directory my text editor opens up and I get a message saying that it is not a text file it is a folder. I've changed back to "Tree View" but still it is broken. I've shut everything down and rebooted but no change.

How do I fix this?

Thanks!

Try re-installing a package called "tree"

try this........

open a terminal (or Konsole) & type the following............

Code:
cd .kde/share/config
that will chanage you to the folder where all KDE user settings are stored.

now, we're gonna rename the konquerorrc file. that's the file that contains all your user settings for Konqueror. please note, if you do this, you're going to have to reset Konqueror to your liking, along with various plugins. so do this if anything else you try doesn't work.

make sure Konqueror is closed, then type at the prompt.........

Code:
mv konquerorrc konquerorrc~
that will rename the konquerorrc file to konquerorrc~. open Konqueror. you should have normal directory viewing back. it will also create a new konquerorrc file in that directory the first time you run it.

also note, if you don't want to dick around with resetting all kinds of things back to your liking, you can open both the new konquerorrc file & the renamed konquerorrc~ with a text editor. then, compare the 2 & add various settings to the new file from the old one. just make sure you don't copy over old view settings. the /.kde directory is hidden, to make sure to enable hidden view to access it.

Did the rename and no change. I don't care about saving any settings so I just deleted the renamed file and tried again and still no change.

I rebooted and now everything work. Yea!!!

Thanks alot!
