What's the program you are trying to install called? Is it an RPM file? tar.gz file?

I've been wanting to install limewire, the installer required java to be installed, which i already did. I installed the j2sdk 1.4 on mandrake linux, and linked it to mozilla and now i can see applets running on the browser. However, the limewire installer still doesn't know that java is installed. This is the message i get:

"[rafa@00e0295c9f23 Installers]$ sh LimeWireLinux.bin
Preparing to install...
Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive...
Configuring the installer for this system's environment...
No Java virtual machine could be found from your PATH
environment variable. You must install a VM prior to
running this program."

I am rather new in linux so this other problem i couldn't resolve by myself. Thanks for the help.

I also had to modify this file: .bashrc and it has the following content:

# .bashrc

# User specific aliases and functions

# Source global definitions
if [ -f /etc/bashrc ]; then
. /etc/bashrc
fi
PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_01/jre/bin:
JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_01/jre/bin
export PATH
export JAVA_HOME

What's wrong or missing? Maybe my problem is the same as yours. Who knows?
