like which rpm should i choose, i downloaded and installed the Xorg one, but in /usr/src/ i cant find no fglrx paste or something near it, only ATI and RPM paste.
help please
Yeah, for Mandrake you want Xorg.
Not quite sure what you mean, ATI paste? You try just doing a search/scan of your hard drive to find fglrx?
Well, I have become very frustrated. I bet I've read every thread that has to do with these ATI drivers and I've tried all the tips listed, but mine still won't work. Each time I try, I do a "fglrxinfo" only to find the Mesa drivers still there. I've even tried upgrading to 2006 and then doing all these tips and it still doesnt work. Does anybody know why I seem to be the only one?
Is there something that I need before following this steps?, libraries, packages, something.
When I was in step 4, I didn't found the directory fglrx-* in /usr/src, but I have /lib/modules/fglrx and here is a make_install.sh and a build_mod directory with a make.sh, so I tried running it, but it looked for /usr/src/linux/include and it doesn't exist. I tried creating it, but then it looked for a file called linux.version.h (obviously it wasn't here).
Please tell me what to do, this is the third Linux distribution I try and it's always the same problem.
Ok, I used urpmi --auto-select, then I opened rpmdrake and I installed ati-xorg-a-lot-of-numbersplf and nothing happened.
The installation created a /usr/src/linux-2.6.12-18mdk directory and ati-the-same-numbersplf with a make.sh file, so I tried to continue with step 4, but it still doesn't find what it needs.
Then, after some "ˇmaldito linux hijo de tu...!" shouts, I tried to install the driver from ATI's website, but I need to uninstall the ati-xorg driver and I can't because it's needed for a dkms-ati package, and when I select this dkms for uninstall, rpmdrake closes itself.
I'm so desperate. I have horrible toughts about leaving Linux and going back to Windows. I really need help. Please, help me!
