howl and libhowl

I install howl from the source which is download from developer website

I used the comment ./configure --prefix=/usr, make, make install, make clean

when I type: "pkg-config --modversion howl" returns "1.0.0"

But when I try to "rpm -ivh libhowl0...............rpm" it keeps asking for howl>=1.0.0

How can I fix this so libhowl can see that I have howl installed? Thanks

I'm not sure how to fix it, but the problem is you bypassed the rpm system when you installed howl. The rpm database doesn't know it's there, so it asks you to add it.

Actually, there are two options (that I know of) to fix it:

1) Remove the howl you compiled, and install howl from rpm.
1a) (A variation on 1) Remove the howl you installed, and reinstall it using checkinstall, which can create a personal rpm package for you, that the rpm database will know about.
2) Install libhowl from source.
