how to uninstall nvidia driver in Powerpack

The powerpack version comes with the nvidia driver, but it updates to a maximum of version 198.x. I want to use the latest version (256.53), but I'm not sure how to remove the one thats already installed so I can proceed. Any help?

you'd use the package manager to remove it.

how is it that can you no longer update powerpack normally - or perhaps you just want to use the latest driver and there is no pre-packaged version available?

256.53 is in the non-free backports repo.

There is no need to remove the existing package. Just install x11-driver-video-nvidia-current and dkms-nvidia-current from backports along with the kernel-*-devel package corresponding to your running kernel.
