How to save updated rpm's

Hi everyone, If someone would be so kind as to tell me how to save the rpm's that are downloaded when you update i would really appreciate it.

It seems that they are installed but not saved anywhere. This is fine but i have a couple of sysytems and they are both on a slow modem connection, so just having to download the updates once would be a bonus. And if for any reason I had to reinstall, i would then already have all the updates that i had originally downloaded.

Thanks in advance..........

After the download completes but BEFORE the installation stops go to

/var/cache/urpmi/rpms

and copy off everything to another directory...

e.g.

mkdir /SavedRPMS

cd /var/cache/urpmi/rpms

cp * /SavedRPMS

Once the installer stops or finishes, these files are normally deleted.

Thanks for the reply opjose I will try doing that. Does it mean that there is no way of making mandrake automatically keep these rpm's? What you said should work but I would have to be quick as it normally doesn't take very long at all for the computer to install the updated rpm's once they have been downloaded.

Thanks again.

cheers

The URPMI sources are nothing more than FTP servers.

This means that there is no reason you can't connect to them and download anything you want using any FTP client.

Since I have multiple Mandrake 10.x systems running I typically download the entire repository contents... including

contrib, plf/i586 plf/noarch, updates

Since some of the files are replicated on the DVD or CD releases I usually just dump the CD contents to the hard drive, then use an FTP client to update, say contrib.

I tell it to skip any existing contrib files, that way only the updated files are downloaded.

After I'm done I usually burn all of the repositories onto DVD to facilitate installations and upgrades.

Thanks again opjose that doesn't sound to bad. One question about doing this though....To use their servers like that do you need a username and password to connect? and if so how do I go about doing that? The reason i ask is that i tried to connect to PLF and a couple of others using Kbear and it keeps asking me for a username and password for each of the servers, or am I doing something else wrong?

Cheers

No all of those are anonymous servers, though they expect an e-mail address as the password.

There seems to be a problem at narndon for some reason...
