Here's instructions from the grub manual:
http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/man...le-CD-ROM.html
Also, IIRC sidux has grub on it already, i.e. you can get to a grub prompt as a menu option on the sidux livecd. You can also use live cds to restore an overwritten grub from a prior linux installation. See, for example:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...highlight=grub
If you want to make a bootcd that will boot directly into your present linux installation in case grub gets messed up, here's a ubuntu tutorial on that subject which can be applied generally to any linux distro:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...highlight=grub
Some distros include a script to generate a bootcd for you which will bypass a lot of the labor involved in the above ubuntu howto. For example, you can generate an iso for a bootcd in mandriva by running as root:
# /sbin/mkrescue --iso
And with some, like opensuse you can use the install dvd to boot the system even if grub gets overwritten. Check the documentation for your specific distro.
