Yes, that's what it should do. Let it run for a few seconds, then hit control-c. Then type mplayer test.mpg

I played around with kdetv and I am getting noise ("noise" as in snowy picture) and the configure wizard runs and it detects channels and names, however I get no visable picture and I tried scanning as NTSC, which of course is the USA analog Television system and other countries as well, but I tried them all just in case. I tried messing around with the filters and all and still nothing.

Can you share your settings with kdetv....?

I was told Hauppage driver configuration drivers are cx18 module and TVtime is designed for cx88.

TV-Time Porgram I get just a blue screen....

You missed the mplayer test.mpg command. Try that on the test capture file.

If you don't have mplayer try any video player.

Are you on cable? Is it plugged into the ATSC or qam connection?

Sorry, I don't know KDETV and how it's configured.

Totem when I open it up on desktop it see's the DVB adapter inside the menu, however when click on it to open it says this "Totem is missing a channels listing to be able to tune the receiver".

I have installed pretty much all my xine and gstreamer plugins, so I am perplexed as to why it is so difficult to configure and/or run a simple TV-Tuner on Linux.

I did try to install Myth-Dora which I failed to mention, and I could not even getting it started. It would hang-up when I clicked on configure MythTV tab during the installation mode....

test.mplayer or test.mpg is the raw capture from the card. You should be able to play it with mplayer. Sounds like you have xine, just type xine test.mplayer or whatever you named the file.

How long did you wait on the Mythdora install? What version of MD are you trying?
