How To Install Hauppauge TV-Tuner WinTV-HVR-1600 on Mandriva 09 ?
I am trying to set-up TV-Time in Mandriva 2009.
I am using a PCI Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600 TV tuner I am trying to get it set-up in Mandriva 2009 Linux. Below is the actual tuner- http://www.hauppauge.com/site/produc...a_hvr1600.html I have a dual-boot system with WindowsXP and the Tuner works on Windows with its own version of software. Can anyone give me some support as to how to configure on Linux....? I tried calling Hauppauge tech support and good-luck, they have terrible support. I was put on que for 10 minutes only to hear a recording that if I wanted to leave a name and number someone would call me back or I could press # and extension to stay online. Well no one ever answered or ever returned my call. I installed TV-Time and when I open it I see a blue screen with time on it, but I get this message off to the side - No TV Card has been detected on your machine. Please verify that a Linux-supported Video/TV Card is correctly plugged in. You can visit our hardware database at: http://www.mandrivalinux.com/en/hardware.php3 I can see the Tuner inside MCC center, so Mandriva see's it, but somehow TV-Time does not or must be configured someway.... Anyone here have the knowledge to set-up TV-tuner....? Thanks d-1 |
Try this http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_HVR-1600 and ivtvdriver.org is where all the drivers come from.

Thanks for the reply, it seems complictaed.
I will attempt... d-1 Quote:

Looking at the link of that model, it looks like a Windows only model. But if you had got one that works with Windows & Mac, would it have been easier to use with Linux? I'm just curious if one labelled for Mac and Win would install better.
Thnx. |

I have it working on mythdora 10.21 (www.mythdora.com) which is based on Fedora Core 10. All I had to do was download the firmware and reboot. lspci -v 03:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Conexant CX23418 Single-Chip MPEG-2 Encoder with Integrated Analog Video/Broadcast Audio Decoder Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc. bic, so you have a Win/Mac version? When I do get one I will be checking out Mythdora. Do you like it better than the MythTV or whatever the name is?
|
This is the one I have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815116007
Mythdora is a Linux Distribution based on Fedora Core 10. It has all the MythTV software and hardware drivers - video, remote, ir and plugins built in. A lot easier than wilsonet.com, which involved installing FC first then all the drivers etc.. There's also MythBuntu and Knoppmyth. |
I finally got through with Hauppauge tech support and the gentlemen there was very helpful in helping me out on the windows side (I have a dual boot system with Windows XP 64 bit). It works great with Windows XP 64 bit, I did have to download load their newer version of their cd.
As for Mandiva Linux install, I have spent 4 days compiling some drivers and I have had no luck yet. Tech support agent said this model would work with Linux and that they have a tutorial on their site to install. But its not easy... I am not giving up and will continue to try and figure it out.... d-1 |
Yes this is the same one I have. I see that Mandriva also has mythtv, but I could not figure out how to configure....
