Hello Everyone,
I am trying to put a couple of my dvd movies on my notebook for the kids. I am not very knowledgable on how to install programs in Mandriva so I'm not too sure about what I'm doing here. I have tried to download dvd::rip from http://www.exit1.org/dvdrip/dist/dvdrip-0.98.2.tar.gz . I am able to get the *.*tar.gz file and unzipp it using the Mandriva GNOME "right click" utility and going to "Extract Here". I don't know what to do after this? I have already tried #./configure, make, and make install. But I get many error messages. Is there a way to install this software via a GNOME gui?
I have tried to view the "README" file in "dvdrip-0.98.2" but all is says is:
Quote:
1.1.3 Mandrake packages
Mandrake users can get actual dvd::rip and transcode RPM's from the
Penguin Liberation Front lair.
Hi,
You can copy directory VIDEO_ts from DVD's to your hard disk. Then install all packages for Xine (multimedia player) You will need libcss packages to play encrypted DVD's. Then from console simply write:
Hi,
It's strange. I install everything from my Mandriva DVD except some packages downloaded from free sources on ftp mandriva server (same like in your installation except "lxdvdrip") and work fine without any errors. Maybe you should deinstall "lxdvdrip" package and install "Video-DVDrip-0.98.1-3plf2007.0" package and try again. I thing should run fine then.
Distribution: Mandriva mostly, vector 5.1, tried many.Suse gone from HD because bad Novell/Zinblows agreement

If you are not trying to shrink the movies, and if you have
a lot of spare space you can just use vobcopy -m
(Mirror whole disk to DiskName/VIDEO_TS/: vobcopy -m)
then mplayer -dvd-device /patth/todirectoryjustbeforeVIDEO_TS/ dvd://
