Wink how to disable supermount!?

hi, this is what i tried to do, doesn't seem to be working:

1) su
2) password
3) supermount disable

/dev/hdb1 / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hdb6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto codepage=850,iocharset=iso8859-1,noauto,nosuid,ro,umask=0,user,nodev 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,sync,unhide,noauto,nosuid,umask=0,user,nodev 0 0
/dev/hda1 /mnt/windows vfat iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb5 swap swap defaults 0 0

then i go: more /etc/fstab:

/dev/hdb1 / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hdb6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto codepage=850,iocharset=iso8859-1,noauto,nosuid,ro,umask=0
,user,nodev 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,sync,unhide,noauto,nosui
d,umask=0,user,nodev 0 0
/dev/hda1 /mnt/windows vfat iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb5 swap swap defaults 0 0

doesn't look like i was able to disable supermount !?!?!?

because when i insert cd, i was able to use ls in console to browse without "mounting" the cdrom.

what's the exact way to disable supermount, and what's the exact way to mount a cd rom?

my cd rom is in /mnt/cdrom , if that helps...

thank you

Try supermount -i disable as root in a console.

Did you click on the desktop icon or browse with Konqueror or view in a console window?

If you clicked on a desktop icon the CD is probably being mounted. If you just insert the CD and browse to the mount point if the drive doesn't spin and the directory is blank the CD isn't mounted.

In 9.1 I always go to the mdk control center, and select mount points. From there you can edit the fstab with a graphical interface. Ive never had any trouble using this and it always worked fine. Im not sure about 9.2 but I'd say its still there. Just click the drive you want to disable supermount on and uncheck the option. I usually give users the ability to mount here as well, showing hidden files, and the ability to run executables from disk. This is on a home pc. It might not be a good idea on a public pc or where you dont want people running programs from disk ect.

BTW, I use kwikdisk to mount/umount from the system tray in KDE.
