Smile how to configure samba on mandriva spring 2008 ?


Hi All
Im new to linux and i have two machine that runs on windows xp which are in a WORKGROUP .the problem is that im running mandriva spring 2008 on my laptop, of which i would like to join the workgroup .I did some research on google and found that there is a program by the name of SAMBA . However i do not know how to configure this programme.

Can someone kindly assist me as to how to setup this programme.

thanks for the advise
i did follow and i got through to a point, i can view the two drives that are in the workgroup however when i try to mount them it says permission denied any ideas !!!!!!!!!

I assume that the two shares are on Windows systems and that those systems are properly configured for network sharing. It's a long time since I used samba, but when I did I found that using smb4k was the easiest way to mount Windows shares. smb4k is available on the Mandriva mirrors (Install & Remove Software).

hi jim
i did some more research and i got to view my two shares using smb://workgroup in konqueror
however i did not got thru with mounting the drives, i did not find smb4k on mandriva's mirror , is there any other way to install the apps.

Use Install & Remove Software from the Menu.

I have found that Webmin is useful for configuring samba
