how to backup urpmi database

how do I backup this database so I dont
have to re-download it if I reinstall
mandriva 2006.

then how to reinstall it.

also I had a kded daemon problem so I uninstalled
kat like one post here instructed and the menu items.

however. when I copy avi files, or other files
I end up with a bunch of files in my /tmp/kde-david
folder that end with .part, This soon fills up my
harddrive with 250 mb .part files. last time I checked
3 of these .part files were part of the same original file.
