how is Mandrakesoft doing?

I read the Distrowatch column this spring which claimed that Mandrakesoft was in bad financial shape and that its current version of Mandriva wasn't very good. How is the company doing lately? I wondred, at the time, if it might disappear or be assimilated by a commercial rival.

this is possibly a bad? indicator, looked at their
market share price in paris stock exchange.

Detractors will have vested interest in whatever info you get.
I think it is rather hard to say, although you would expect
more and more contracts from the French government,
you can get hold of their annual or quaterly financial statement.
Chewing Brazilian must cost money (cost of integration).
probably suffering from ubuntu success, but this could be transient

I find it pretty good, but it is a personal opinion

I also find mdv 2007.0 (x86_64) very good.

I prefer kde desktop and firefox 2.

Amarok and Kaffeine (spelling?) for media players.

It has every thing I need.

Glenn

Chewing Brazilian? Hmm, sounds tasty.

And I also agree about the Transient effects of other distro's

I am also giving Mandriva 2007 a try and thus far in my examination, it is quite good. The installation process went smoothly, it properly identified all of my hardware (doing a better job than SUSE 10.1, for example), the applications and utilities are working as they should, and updates are working properly. I will be spending more time with it over the weekend, but I can already confirm that it is a solid, good quality release.

Mandrake was the first distro I tried, in summer 2003, and it did work well enough, but it needed multiple installation discs, and was only successful once in running my wireless network. Bah. MEPIS fits on one disc, and handles my network smoothly; and I stick with what works. This thread wasn't supposed to be a Mandriva basher, though. I just wondered if what the Distrowatch column said is still true, assuming it was then.
