How do you get the 9.2 installer to recognize an optical mouse?

I am baulked at installing Mandrake 9.2 on my home computer (see signature Computer 2).

Unlike installations on my system at work (Computer 1), which recognizes the USB mouse, the installer does not recognize the PS/2 Logitech optical cordless mouse when trying to install on Computer 2. All goes fine until you get to the Licence Agreement page. Not matter, thought I, I will just use the keyboard. You can Tab to EVERYTHING on the page -- except the Accept radio button! The only recourse is to Tab to Quit and hit Enter.

I tried the text-only installation but got lost in keyboard hell.

So I started all over again with a good old cordfull mechanical Logitech mouse (ex-Compaq) tested to work in basic mouse mode on a number of systems -- but paired with the cordless keyboard. Still no joy.

Does anybody know how to get the installer to recognize the mouse? It's so frustrating, especially as the Dell installation goes like a dream. The worst thing is Windows XP Pro installed with no probs using just the basic universal driver, even though the extended Logitech driver could not be loaded until after XP was installed. (Which proves that the base transceiver, which plugs into both the keyboard and mouse PS/2 sockets, looks like a cordful mechanical pair to the BIOS and OS.)

As so often happens, when you post a question you find the answer shortly after. Instead of trying a mixed combination of wireless keyboard with mechanical mouse, I scrounged an old PS/2 cordful keyboard and temporarily plugged them in. The Mandrake 9.2 installer worked like a charm, with full mouse functionality, and I was able to click Accept in the licence page and continue.
