How do I get rid of the devices icon on desktop

This should be an easy one.

How do I get rid of the devices icon that shows up on my desktop?

I like to keep my desktop clean, and I already put that icon on the panel, along with the trash can. It keeps showing up again when I restart though, after I deleted it before. The trash can doesn't show up again, though.

I'm using the free Mandriva version, and KDE.

Thanks.

You can disable desktop icons in the 'icons' panel of the control center.

Look under Star | System | Configuration | KDE | LookNFeel | Behavior. Your third tab is Device Icons. You can either turn them all off, or only have them display when they are mounted. Nice for some devices that aren't always mounted (cdrom, usb pendrive ...)

I wanted to just get rid of the "devices" icon that's on my desktop. I put the icon elsewhere (on a panel), but it still shows up on my desktop when I boot into Mandriva every time. I don't want to have to just delete it every single time.
I use my desktop as a sort of temporary folder for if I am going to transfer a file, or if I'm editing a file, etc, so I don't want to disable all icons. When I did try it though, it put more icons on my desktop. They were gnome icons.

It was turned off by default. Probably because I already had a way of seeing the devices that were mounted, which is actually the icon I'm trying to get rid of since I keep it up on another panel next to the trash can.

Well, you can try moving the icon to the trash. Got rid of the icon on my system. It was still gone after a Ctrl-Alt-Backspace.
